AGAIN FOR THOSE THAT ARE REEEAAADINGLY CHALLENGED ----The SC-35 gets 5 stars, the one star here is to get your attention so you can make an informed choice.
If you want a Pioneer Elite warranty and not an after market or 2nd party warranty, buy Elite products from a brick and mortar store.
FIVE stars for the product, it is an excellent AVR.

For starters, if you are undecided on what to get, this item is deeply discounted because it is last year's model and who knows how many more are available. The Pioneer website shows only the current year models but really not much different from this one. Fine, all that really matters in the end is that it works the job it is supposed to do.
This is my first adventure into surround sound. Previously I used a stereo receiver with 4 speakers. I started with the lowest priced Denon receiver available but returned it because I thought it malfunctioned because certain audio adjustments were unavailable. I then tried the lowest priced Marantz available but it really did malfunction, producing only 3 channel sound unless it was set to multi-channel stereo, then all speakers worked. The Marantz did have nice sound in general but the picture quality was slightly degraded compared to the Denon. Oh yes, my disc player is the Oppo BDP-93 with superb upscale of common DVD.
Well, this Pioneer SC-35 is now giving me all of the good sound I could want plus good visuals on the TV. Both the Pioneer and the Oppo use the same Marvel Qedo video processors so that probably has something to do with getting a good picture.
On the audio side of things, this unit has made my modestly priced Mirage speakers sound better. Probably part has to do with the superior acoustic calibration used by Pioneer compared to the Audessy calibration system used by other brands.
Overall, these AV receivers are complicated machines. I have been studying the owner's manual as if I were studying for final exams in school. Two weeks running and I am still learning and finding ways to tweak my system to my preferences. Even the remote is ok because it can learn to operate other components but I wish the buttons were larger.

I have been a pioneer fan for 35 years this receive is as good as any that I have owned and better , I love this receiver , The Ipod hookup is great , and the 140 watts sound real clean . I am very happy with this buy .
